Madang police arrest murder suspect

Provincial Police Commander Superintendent David Seine Jr said one of the suspects was arrested on the same day, while the other who is alleged to be the main suspect was on the run until his apprehension by the police officers from Walium. 

PPC Seine Jr said according to a police brief, it was alleged that the deceased identified as Newman James adult male from Waput village was at Naru to organise a soccer tournament when he was stabbed to death. 

Madang police begin festive season operations

According to Provincial Police, Commander, Superintendent David Seine Jr the police units have been grouped in teams and will report to their respective bosses during their operation.
 
He said they will be working in shifts to make sure that police presence is felt 24/7 in the province. 

PPC Seine Jr is pleased with what the Taskforce Team did yesterday, where they conducted a mini raid at Morelang near RSL Market and caught three suspects involved in producing homebrew. 
He said the suspects escaped and their homebrewing implements were confiscated. 

Madang police kicks off festive season operation

Madang Provincial Police Commander, Superintendent David Seine Jr addressed police officers in Madang town police station in a parade. He called on his officers to work ethically and professionally during the festive season operation. 

PPC Seine Jr who was in the provinces for the last 14 days was pleased with how the police officers had been working. He had witnessed good responses from police regarding a recent robbery. 

With that, PPC Seine Jr told officers and the MS officers to maintain their good work during the festive season operation. 

Policeman wounded in shootout

The incident happened at Asas One Lane Bridge along the Bruce Jepchot Highway in Ramu, Madang Province. 

Assistant Commissioner of Police Northern Command, Peter Guinness confirmed that one of the armed criminals was killed during the shootout while the others sustained injuries. 

ACP Guinness said that the police officers from Northern Mobile Group headquarters and the MS 13 officers were travelling in a convoy to Madang when the incident happened. 

Quick response saves semi-trailer

According to Highway patrol police from Walium and response team from Madang, police had stopped criminals who attempted to loot the container. 

According to police officers, the semi-trailer was stationary at the top of Naru mountain, a hot spot for criminal activities. Police were alerted when the driver saw youths approaching to loot the truck. 

A police officer said they arrived on time and the criminals had fled the scene. 

Police said the section of the highway had experienced robberies and people had died as a result. 

Police apprehend one more escapee

Police stated that Jordan Sau from Yanchen Village in East Sepik was convicted by the National court on July 14 2022, to serve 12 years in prison for arson and burglary.

The police report stated that after Sau escaped, he was hiding out at Kerema Compund/Independence Drive when police conducted a dawn raid on Monday December 12 and apprehended him. He was escorted to Jomba police station and is now detained there.

Sau will be charged for escaping lawful custody.

Serial offender shot and wounded

Outgoing police boss for Madang Acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang confirmed that the incident took place on Monday December 5, 2022 on the road to Beon jail.

PPC Rubiang said the vehicle was carrying CS officers who were part of the funeral program for the late Beon Prison Commander Andrew Polis. The vehicle was stoned by the alleged offender who was with his gang.  The stone broke the window of the vehicle and hit the CS officer. The man, was later apprehended in his home by police.

Madang Police On Alert

Madang Provincial Police Commander, Acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang said police officers from the Task Force and the other sections of police have set up roadblocks to search vehicles to make sure they don't bring any offensive weapons into town. 

"Precautions is better than cure as they used to say so we are doing this to make sure there is no problem during the declaration. I also want to warn the people who want to cause trouble to be mindful that police and soldiers are fully alert to make sure that there is no trouble."

Candidate Arrested For Misbehaving

He was charged under section 178 of the election offences Act, detained in the Jomba Police Station cell and was later allowed on K500 police bail. He will appear in court when his court papers are ready.

Madang Provincial Police Commander Acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang said Kas was intoxicated when he went to the counting venue at Holy Spirit Primary School on Friday night. The PPC also said he had been driving about the counting area at high speed.

Men Arrested For Disturbing Counting

Madang Provincial Police Commander, Acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang said the security personnel yesterday, Wednesday, 3rd August, burnt down shelters of candidates who were camping at the counting centre and ordered them to go home. 
 
PPC Rubiang said the group gathered today at Walium and tried to disturb the counting, when police rounded and marched them to Walium police station. 
 
He said the suspects will be taken to Jomba police station in Madang town and be charged accordingly.
