Ruling on Unitech student’s murder next month

The three Lawrence Simon, 23 of Sakales village, Wabag, Lorry Paul, 23 of Lanakep village, Wabag and Gideon Luio, 21 of Kaikin village Wapenamanda appeared before Principal Magistrate Jeremiah Singomat at Lae’s committal court today (Friday). 

An earlier bail application was struck out in the National Court. 

Their reasons for a review of their bail application was they wanted to go back to studies while attending to future court proceedings.

The event at Wakwak, at the outskirts of Southern Highlands' capital Mendi, was marked with speeches by relatives of the late Graham as well as community and government representatives.

In recent weeks, various leaders from the province have turned up in numbers to give their share of money, livestock and foodstuff to the deceased’s family, relatives and tribe.

Last Saturday, the relatives received K30,000 in cash and 25 pigs, prices ranging from K5,000 to K15,000, from the people and leaders of Imbonggu district.

UPNG SRC president conveys sympathies to late Romanong's loved ones

The University of Technology student was killed in his room during an attack on the campus last Saturday.

“Firstly, on behalf of the UPNG students, I wish to convey my sincerest condolence to the families, friends, relatives and loved ones of late Graham Romanong. His death is a great loss to our nation, to the people of Southern Highlands Province and Mendi,” Kenneth Rapa said in a statement.

“On behalf of the student body of UPNG, I condemn the killing of this young man. The manner in which he was killed is regrettable and should not be tolerated in our society.
