Kumul Petroleum Academy

Trainees begin work on SLPP

Equipment for the SLPP arrived in the country recently and will be used to train Papua New Guinea’s next generation of gas and oil technicians.

The SLPP is a replica of a full-sized gas processing plant and comes with live process systems, a centralised control room, emergency protection systems and an electrical distribution centre, which provides real-life training scenarios and an assessment facility.

The SLPP will be set up just in front of the Academy, which is located at Idubada, and is expected to be completed before the end of the year.

Kumul Petroleum Academy receives K4.5m

The funding was presented today by PNG’s national oil and gas company Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited (KPHL).

The Kumul Petroleum Academy initiative is funded by the KPHL’s participation in South Pacific Employment Institution (SPEI).

A total of 32 trainees will have an opportunity to be trained at the centre situated at the world class state of the art training facility built at a cost of K53m at Idubada near Port Moresby.
