Kuk Chips Launched In Dubai

The frozen sweet potato chips are from organically grown sweet potato from the cool and rich soil region of the highlands of Papua New Guinea.

The company is also the only fresh milk and dairy producer and fresh vegetable production in the country, including the Kuk frozen sweet potato chips brand. Kuk Kaukau (sweet potato), take its name from the famous Kuk UNESCO heritage site in the Western Highlands Province.

More potatoes needed

The brand-new Kuk chips factory in the Highlands has begun processing locally grown potatoes into frozen French fries, as part of an ambitious import substitution plan to provide a market for thousands of local farmers, cut the price of frozen foods and save valuable foreign currency.

The Highlands Kuk chips is a 50:50 partnership between the Southern Highlands Provincial Government (SHPG) and the agri-business developer, Innovative Agro Industry (IAI).

The brand named is inspired by the Kuk agriculture site, located in the Highlands of PNG that was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO. Kuk showed evidence that 6,500 years ago the ingenious people of the Highlands of Papua New Guinea transformed plant gathering to agriculture, demonstrating independent agricultural development from a hunters-gatherers society to an agriculture society.
