The training participants included the Deputy Public Solicitor for Civil and Crimes, Solicitors in Charge of branch offices, principal legal officers for each legal section in the headquarters, and managers for corporate sections. 

The training was delivered over five days, covering all five modules of the FLT program. Participants learned about the importance of saving, budgeting, planning for their retirement, how to buy or build their own home, and how to start a micro, small medium enterprise (MSME). 

On a visit to the school yesterday, Member for Gazelle, Jelta Wong accompanied Minister Uguro to the site where the school was burnt down three weeks ago.

Minister Uguro condemned the actions of those perpetrators in the community in burning down the school building.

He said this is not the solution to any problem and this ill behaviour must stop.

The Minister said communities must take ownership of school infrastructure such as classrooms, teacher’s houses, students, water tanks, power and refrain from burning them down.

BSP Group Chairman, Sir Kostas Constantinou and board of directors including BSP Group CEO Robin Fleming and senior executive team, handed over the desks to the school. 
The group were in the province to attend the banks third quarter board-meeting activities, took part in the handover ceremony to the Anglicare Elementary school.   

The school was established in 2002 by the Anglican Church Congregation in Kokopo and has a population of close to 400 students from prep up to Grade 3.

A local electrical contractor Pawa Comtroniks LTD has recently started installing led lights along the city's four-lane road starting from Kokopo Secondary School and will end at Gazelle Motors roundabout.
Lack of proper streetlights along the Kokopo’s Williams four-lane road has been an overdue problem giving opportunists the advantage to commit petty crimes and other lawlessness activities.
Last year Kokopo City Authority Board approved a funding of K300,000 to light up the Williams road, commonly known as Four-lane road.

In the past registered land groups were unsuccessful because they did not work together.

Kokopo MP Emil Tammur made this call on the weekend when handing over land mobilisation funds to three land groups in Kokopo/Vunamami Urban LLG and Bitapaka LLG, under the district Land Mobilisation program.

He said if people wanted to access land they must work together, as such arrangement are recognised by governments.

Mr Tammur handed over K50,000 to Bailu Land Group to complete the group's acquisition process.

Residents, as well as surrounding communities within the Kokopo Town precinct can now seek immediate police assistance.

The K283,000 funded police post was a partnership between the provincial government and the police department. 

The new police post will greatly improve policing efforts in light of increased in law and order issues in the area.

The Kokopo Vunamami Urban LLG has applauded the partnership that’s led to this; it will help keep the urban communities safe.

The post will cater for the Raniolo, Kenabot and Ulagunan areas. 

This early start is to help the Provincial Health Authority (PHA) with its response to increasing cases of COVID-19.

The advanced deployment team comprises four ambulance officers.

The team is led by Chief Superintendent Anderson Poumb.

Poumb is joined by senior ambulance officer and Community Health Worker Bradley Zuki, and two new recruit ambulance officers.

Two more recruits are expected to join the Lae team this May.

This follows a decision by Kokopo City Authority Board last week from a submission by Chairman of KCAB and Kokopo MP, Emil Tammur, to roll out the program again this year.

Kokopo District has been assisting its tertiary students for the past four years.

Tammur told the board during its first meeting on Wednesday January 13^th that it was important to roll out the program again in 2021 to assist students during these difficult economic times.

Police brutality resulting in deaths is becoming quite prevalent in PNG, says Acting Judge David Susame at the Kokopo National Court today.

The MOU was signed between Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister and Kokopo MP, Emil Tammur, Provincial and National Government, and Asia Pacific Tourism Organisation (APTO).

The signing is geared to ensure Kokopo lives up to its name as the tourism hub of the country.

Minister Tammur said the signing now paves the way for work to begin so that the district and province can be ready to take in huge numbers of tourists.
