Panthers face Knights in Kokopo league finals

Panthers have been the form team this year, with an average winning margin of 20-plus. Majority of their players dominated Kokopo marlins in the recent confederate trials. It is expected that all their big guns will be taking the field on Saturday, against an unknown Knight’s outfit.

Again Panthers have been consistent throughout the season with core of their playing group coming out of the Gurias development program.

Cowboys take out Agmark 9s Cup

Both teams went through the quarter and semifinals playoff before the big grand final showdown and played in front of a good size crowd.

Kokopo City Rugby League Agmark 9s tournament is used as a launch pad to get the domestic East New Britain rugby league back up and running after being domain for two years due to covid-19.

Under the presidency of Nicole Kamara and her new  executive Kokopo City League initiated  the 9s tournament to lure the interest back and get the clubs organized for the 2023 season proper which will follow shortly.

Kokopo League Retains Executives

They include Wesley Waninara who has been re-elected for another term as League President, Markus Kaugla as Vice President, Mellie Tamlik-Secretary and Games Corodinator and Grace Micheal as League Treasurer.

The election of the 2022 KCRL Executives took place during the League’s AGM held last Wednesday at the Kalabond field.

Brothers claim title

It was clean sweep for the Brothers club who also scooped the U20 and women’s grand final honors. 

In the U20, Brothers beat Kokopo Muruks 8-6, capping off a brilliant season undefeated, while Brothers women’s team Sisters defeated Panthers 6-4.

At the post-match presentation, Brothers A grade picked up the Cup and K5, 000 while runners up Panthers got K2, 500.

In the U20, premiers Brothers got K2, 400 and runners up Muruks K1, 200. Sisters picked up K1, 400 and Panthers settled for K1, 200.
