Holiday extended for Kila Kila secondary

Education Secretary, Dr Uke Kombra, has announced that due to the gazettal of the secondary school as a venue for counting by the Papua New Guinea Electoral Commission, the term two holidays for this school is extended by one week only.

“The one week extension is given to allow the counting of votes at this school to be completed by 16 July, 2017,” says Dr Kombra.

Meanwhile, all the other schools in the National Capital District and throughout the country, which come under the National Education System (NES), must resume classes for Term 3 on Monday, July 10.

School girls in NCD learn about cervical cancer

Papua New Guinea Cancer Foundation (PNGCF) continued the 2016 cervical cancer education schools program at KSS this week.

The program focuses on what cervical cancer is, how they can protect themselves from the disease, how to recognise early signs and symptoms and concludes with a question and answer session.

Current statistics show that cancer is one of the main causes of deaths in PNG and cervical cancer is among the most common types.
