Major funding needed for tourism promotion

CEO Jerry Agus said if PNG wants to compete with tourism heavyweights, it needs to have sufficient funding.

He said countries that attract tourists have the spending power to promote their destinations.

Agus made the comments during the China Ready workshop held recently in Port Moresby.

“Promoting a destination is not that that easy. We are competing with other bigger destinations like Australia and Malaysia, China and all other countries in Europe,” he said

TPA aims to improve visitor services

TPA, in partnership with New Zealand Tourism Research Institute (NZTRI) of Auckland University, is being engaged by the International Finance Corporation to conduct the online survey.

In a media statement, TPA Chief Executive Officer, Jerry Agus, said the data gathered will help improve visitor services, inform marketing activities and increase investment in the tourism sector.

K3 billion tourism hub for Port Moresby

A  Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today by Tourism Promotion Authority CEO Jerry Agus and Trade, Commerce and Industry secretary, John Andrias, and Paga Hill Development Company CEO Gudmundur Fridriksson.    

Tourism Minister Tobias Kulang and Trade, Commerce and Industry Minister Richard Maru were also in attendance.
