SHP Police Officers Probed

Southern Highlands Provincial Police Commander, Chief Inspector Daniel Yangen said the police officers are not allowed to take part in doing campaigns for any candidates when in police uniforms or using police properties.

PPC Yangen made this call after a police officer was involved in an argument that lead to damages of properties.

The police boss said the other incident is still under investigation and police will soon make arrests.

Police to investigate Downing Street lockdown parties

Commissioner Cressida Dick said they were looking into "potential breaches of Covid-19 regulations" in Downing Street and Whitehall since 2020.

Boris Johnson told the Commons he welcomed the investigation as it would "give the public the clarity it needs" over the allegations.

His spokesman also said the PM did not believe he had broken the law.

Dame Cressida said the investigation was launched after the Cabinet Office inquiry team, led by civil servant Sue Gray, passed information to the force.

Late Teen’s Report Almost Complete

Dr. Liko was responding to questions raised by the media on the progress of the report during a recent press conference.

He said the investigation team is awaiting the “toxicology” report before it can submit the complete report to Parliament, and for public consumption.

“The report will be ready by this week. The report cannot be completed without the toxicology report,” he said.

The Health Secretary said as part of the investigation, tissues were taken from the late teenager and was sent to a pathology lab in Melbourne, Australia for analysis.

New WHO group may be last chance to find virus origins

It has nominated 26 experts to join the body, the Scientific Advisory Group on the Origins of Novel Pathogens (Sago).

More than a year-and-a-half since the virus was detected in the Chinese city of Wuhan, the question of how it first emerged remains unclear.

The team will consider if the virus jumped from animals to humans in Wuhan markets or leaked in a lab accident.

China has strongly refuted the second theory.

Solomons police investigate gruesome murder of alleged sorcerer

Police say the 50 year-old was killed by a younger man at remote Rakisu Village in Tikopia last week.

A 30 year-old suspect accused the victim of using sorcery to kill his child and poison his wife.

Police commissioner Mostyn Mangau said witnesses alerted by the victims' cries for help saw the accused fleeing the scene

They took the victim of the attack to a local clinic where he died from acute blood loss, before being buried last Saturday.

Commissioner Mangau said he died the victim also made a statement which was recorded on a phone.

Facebook's Giphy deal investigated by competition authority

Giphy's vast library of looping short video animations is hugely popular in Facebook's apps.

But it also provides animations to competitors like TikTok, Snapchat and Twitter.

Now, the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is investigating whether the purchase is a problem.

It has sent an enforcement order to Facebook, effectively putting a hold on any merging of the companies until its investigation is over.

Announcing the acquisition in May this year, Facebook said that half of Giphy's traffic comes from Facebook apps, including Whatsapp and Instagram.

USP to enforce report on mismanagement and abuse of office

BDO Auckland was engaged to investigate alleged corruption at the university.

According to the Islands Business, the USP Council said in a statement the BDO report had resulted in a "range of findings and recommendations that will need to be addressed to ensure the sound operation of the university".

However, the council did not say what the BDO's recommendations are.

The allegations were raised in a paper by the Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Pal Ahluwalia, titled Issues, Concerns and Breaches of Past Management and Financial Decisions.

Rape investigation into Ronaldo dropped

Ronaldo, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time and plays for the Italian club Juventus, has maintained he is innocent of rape.

The allegation made headlines last year after Las Vegas police said they were investigating it.

The case stems from a June 13, 2009, call from a woman to Las Vegas police. She reported that she had been sexually assaulted and police took her to the hospital for an examination, the Clark County District Attorney's Office said in a statement.

But she declined to identify the person who she said assaulted her.
