Oil Search says no to violence against women

Staff and their families took part in a march in downtown Port Moresby to help spread the message to end all forms of violence against women.

They were joined by members of the current PNG Pukpuks squad and the coach of the PNG U-20 women’s soccer team, Lisa Cole.

From November 25 through  to December 10, Human Rights Day, the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence aim to raise public awareness and mobilising people everywhere to bring about change.

Public reminded to seek help at violence support hotline

This follows International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women that will be commemorated on Wednesday 25 November.

The hotline is funded by the New Zealand government’s Aid Programme, United States Agency for International Aid (USAID) and ChildFund Australia.

ChildFund PNG stated that the progress made by the service in combating family and sexual violence had  now been recognised by the Papua New Guinean government.

Minister for Religion, Youth and Community Development Delilah Gore has voiced her support for the toll-free hotline.
