Intel tells founder he can’t use his name

The Santa Clara-based antivirus software maker was acquired by Intel in 2011 for $7.7 billion and was renamed Intel Security Group.

John McAfee was recently appointed as the CEO of MGT Capital Investments Inc. after his company D-Vasive was brought by MGT. He revealed his intentions to continue the McAfee name legacy and planned to rename MGT as John McAfee Global Technologies Inc.

Intel recalls smartwatches that will burn your skin

The watch's heat can "result in burns or blisters on the skin surface," said Josh Walden, senior vice president and general manager of Intel New Technology Group, in a statement.

BMW and Intel plan robot car production

The three firms will collaborate on the systems needed to make cars that can navigate without any help from a human driver.

The vehicles will be capable of driving safely along major roads as well as in suburban and inner city areas.

BMW said it hoped the collaboration would mean it could put robot cars into production by 2021.

The research partnership was announced on the day when US officials begin an investigation into a fatal car crash involving a Tesla Model S, to which self-driving technology could have contributed.

US stocks open higher as Citi, others report strong earnings

Citigroup, Intel, Netflix and eBay all rose in early trading Thursday after reporting results that beat analysts' forecasts.

European markets also rose after Greece's parliament approved pension reforms, tax increases and other measures demanded by its creditors.

The Dow Jones industrial average was up 62 points, or 0.3 percent, at 18,107 as of 9:35 a.m. Eastern time.
