Taukeiaho out as Sea Eagles, Panthers, Eels welcome back stars

Taukeiaho lasted just two minutes in last Saturday night’s 25-24 elimination final defeat of Gold Coast before hobbling to the sideline. He underwent scans on Monday and has not been named in the 21-man squad to play the Sea Eagles.

Forward Nat Butcher returns from a knee injury and will replace Taukeiaho on the interchange, where he will start alongside halfback Sam Walker, who kicked the match-winning field goal in a nine-minute cameo against the Titans.

Hunters lose winger for eight weeks

A regular in the Hunters side since 2018, the 25-year-old had surgery on Monday to repair fractures in different bones in his forearm.

Norman Brown, 23, now has the opportunity to make his Intrust Super Cup debut on the wing when the Hunters meet the sixth-placed Falcons at Runaway Bay’s Bycroft Oval.

Brown, who played fullback for Hela Wigmen in their Digicel Cup grand final victory against Lae Tigers last October, has experience in pressure matches with one other grand final victory under his belt.

Zlat out with injury

The 39-year-old, who scored 29 goals in 53 games for United, was substituted in the 56th minute of Milan's 2-1 win over Roma yesterday.

The two legs of the last-16 tie are due to be played on 11 and 18 March.

The Swede has scored 16 goals in 21 games this campaign.

AC Milan are second in Serie A, four points behind rivals Inter Milan.

Injury forces Serena out of Roland Garros

The American, who turned 39 this week, had been due to play Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova in the second round later but after a warm-up decided the injury was too severe.

Williams, a three-time former champion at Roland Garros, said she may not play again this year.

Williams had suffered the problem during her semi-final loss to Victoria Azarenka in the U.S. Open and said ahead of her Roland Garros campaign that she was not at 100% physically but had recovered sufficiently to play.

Curry out at least three months

The two-time NBA MVP was hurt during his team's game against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday, as he suffered a bad fall while going for a layup during the third quarter.

Golden State plan to provide a further update on Curry, whose hand became caught under Suns big man Aron Baynes, in three months - meaning he is unlikely to play again until February 2020.

The 31-year-old - a six-time All-Star - averaged 20.3 points and 6.5 assists in four games at the start of the new season.

Ofahengaue out of Origin II

The injury means he will be unavailable for Origin II in Perth on June 23 and giving him little time to prove his fitness for the Holden State of Origin series finale in Sydney on July 10.

Newcastle veteran Tim Glasby, Storm forward Christian Welch, Titans prop Jarrod Wallace and Sharks forward Kurt Capewell would be the main candidates to replace Ofahengaue on Queensland's bench.

Broncos halfback Thomas Dearden limped from the field at Suncorp Stadium early on Sunday with a syndesmosis injury.

Neymar to be treated in Brazil

The forward is expected to be sidelined for another seven weeks with the metatarsal injury he sustained in PSG's Coupe de France clash with Strasbourg on January 23.

In his absence, the French champions have won all but one of their subsequent matches with Kylian Mbappe leading the line in attack while both Neymar and Edinson Cavani recover from injuries.

A statement on the club's official website said: "Neymar Jr will continue treatment in Brazil under the supervision of the Paris Saint-Germain medical department.

Penrith Panthers lose James Maloney to injury

The Panthers confirmed the NSW five-eighth had suffered a grade-two medial ligament tear during Saturday's get-out-of-jail win over the Gold Coast.

The club said he had been sidelined indefinitely and would not be back for the final three regular rounds.

He is now eyeing Week One of the finals as his earliest possible return.

Medial ligament strains generally take 3-6 weeks to heal, meaning he may not be back at all this year, should the Panthers go out in straight sets in the finals.

Roosters signing Ryan Hall suffers ACL injury

Hall injured his knee in the Leeds Rhinos' 48-22 win over Toulouse on the weekend.

The 30-year-old signed a two-year deal with the Roosters  last month.

He will miss the rest of this season and is also set to miss England's three-Test series against New Zealand in October and November.

Mbappe hurt in France training

The 19-year-old forward appeared to hurt his left ankle in a tackle from defender Adil Rami during a practice match on Tuesday.

Mbappe, who is expected to be a starter in Russia, received treatment from support staff and attempted to play on before leaving the session, placing him in doubt for Saturday's clash with the Socceroos.

Didier Deschamps will hope the knock is only a minor concern after losing both Laurent Koscielny and Dimitri Payet to injury prior to selection of the final 23.

France's other Group C opponents are Denmark and Peru.
