Informal Markets

NCDC condemns Gordon informal markets

The markets division states that all vending is expected to be done at designated markets and neither the division nor the Commission will tolerate the business of selling and buying from illegal pop up markets.

The relocation of hundreds of Gordon Market vendors to other designated markets has been met with some degree of dissatisfaction, resulting in them creating unauthorised informal markets.

The markets division came out publicly, clearly stating NCDC’s stance in this matter.

NCDC urged to support textile markets

Richard Yakam,  First Assistant Secretary Trade Division of the Department Of Trade, Commerce and Industry said this in the presence of NCDC officials during the 27th Garment and Textile Graduation.

Yakam said women involved in textile or meri blouse making were part of the informal sector however more forced to sell on the streets.

He said NCD Governor, Powes Parkop, has done well so far to provide markets for fresh produce and fish and similar facilities was needed for women in the garment or textile sector.
