Huge day of action kicks off Hong Kong

Pablo Feijoo’s side clinched a memorable 17-12 win over Australia, when Ignacio Martin Goenaga’s scored off the last play of the game. It was his second try of the match after Inaki Villanueva had opened their account during the first minute.

Scotland also ran in a last gasp score against England to take a narrow 22-19 victory, following over 70 seconds of phase play ending with Lee Jones going over the whitewash.

The team, led by skipper Tisa Kautu, also featured debutants Robin Loma, Paul Nelson and Desmond Korpok who made their first international appearance at the tournament.

The PNG outfit beat American Samoa and Solomon Islands and was in the semi-finals for the Cup and a place in the Rio 2016 Olympics but lost to Australia, finishing 4th on the ladder after Australia, Tonga and Samoa respectively.
