SEZ Summit sponsorship boost

Minister for International Trade and Investment, Richard Maru described this Summit as one of the most important policy summits of Papua New Guinea since Independence.

Rice investor arrives in PNG

The visit was upon invitation by Minister for International Trade and Investment, Richard Maru, to visit potential rice zones in the country.

The team will be led by the Papua New Guinea Ambassador to the Philippines, Betty Palaso and former Department of Agriculture Secretary of the Philippines, Emmanuel Pinol.

The team will visit Central Province which has been identified by the Government as a potential rice zone.

They will visit Brown River and Gabadi in Kairuku District on Wednesday, and Rigo on Thursday before returning to the Philippines.

Major Reforms of the Capital Market Underway

As Minister responsible for the Capital Market of Papua New Guinea along with its regulator the Securities Commission of Papua New Guinea (SCPNG), Maru said that reforms are critical as the Marape-Rosso government sets out to grow the capital market in Papua New Guinea. It is a key vehicle to mobilize domestic capital for critical investments, to grow the economy of the country.

UPNG, district sign MOA

Member for Yangoru-Saussia and Minister for International Trade and Investment, Richard Maru when signing the agreement said UPNG will have a strong and vibrant campus at the district’s doorstep.

“I am pleased that my district will be the first to host the first science-based degree program outside of the main campus at UPNG. This is a milestone occasion,” Maru said.

The Open campus will have two separate study centres, one at Warasuau for Nombo and Saussia students where the administrative centre will be located.
