DJ comp winners grateful to Heineken PNG

He only came to know the basics to this art of ‘live music’ as Heineken puts it, only recently but has quickly made a name for himself.

“I didn’t know a thing about deejaying, but was mentored by one of my cousins,” he told Loop PNG a few minutes after being announced the reserve level winner for Heineken Live Your Music DJ Contest 2016’s.

“From there I started learning, and I made it through and I’m excited about that. I was not really expecting this (win),” he added.

Unique from other talent competitions, Heineken LYM provides a pathway for its winners to grow their talent and mentor other contestants in this area.

Instead of money, Heineken LYM has awarded both its winners in premium level and reserve level with DJ consoles each.

In addition, the premier grade winner, DJ Dirtyfingerz, will undergo training with the Ministry of sound team in Australia, and play a set at one of Sydney’s premier club.

Their efforts in the competition that has been rocking the Gold Club every Saturday nights at 10 pm paid off in the grand final decision last Saturday.

In a small media conference today, Brendan Chan a.k.a DJ Dirtyfingerz was announced the winner of the premium level and Phillip Yagro a.k.a DJ Fix announced the winner in the reserve level.

Chan and Yagro over the last seven weeks, have been battling it out for their respective titles, with other DJ’s such as DJ X-Clusive, DJ Swatz, DJ Was, DJ Acid, DJ Cradle and DJ Swagg, to mention a few.
