Heineken 'Live your music' DJ contest

The annual competition in search of PNG’s Disk Jockeying (DJ) talent has two semi-finalists each for two divisions:

Top Rising Star DJ division (A grade) - Diitroid and Patz.

Top Rookie DJ division (B grade) – Acid and Cradle.

These results are from the fourth night of competition over the weekend.

Next competition night for the remaining round 2 DJs will be this Saturday, April 22, bringing onto the stage:

Waz, Buff and Code-D, in A-grade division and DJs, Technic, Rude and Wayne Dog in B-grade division.

It will be double trouble! Two DJ Competitions rolled into one - the A grade division to find the Rising Star DJ 2017 and the B grade Rookie DJ 2017.

This year has attracted 24 DJ’s in total, 12 in each division, who will be competing over 7 nights.

Assistant Manager Jacquie Simons says the competition will basically be the same as last year.

“What we're trying to do is improve the quality of DJs in the country and promote upcoming DJs through mentorship and promotion as well,” she said.

The almost one month battle between the DJ’s will see its actual kick-off at 10 pm this Saturday June 18.

Three new faces on the scene are DJs Acid, Cradle and Swagg competing in the B grade while the more experienced  DJs X-Clusive, Swatz and Was compete in the A grade.

Asked what we will expect, Assistant Hotel General Manger Jacquie Simons said:

“Very tough competition as one elimination per grade and there's  three A grade and three B grade. They'll be looking at impressing to stay in the game.”
