Patel’s contract as Barras coach renewed

The announcement was made by CPNG Chief Executive Officer, Greg Campbell.

“Cricket PNG is fortunate to have Coach Patel on board with us as Head Coach...he is our longest serving coach and has done a tremendous job in shaping our cricket players into professional athletes both on and off field,” said Campbell.

“His experience and coaching method is invaluable to our sporting code’s strive for excellence,” said Campbell.

The former New Zealand cricket player made his decision to renew his contract last week.

Faunt said the selectors panel was focused on building depth in the team.

"Our batting group has built a great momentum through our practice matches and we have picked a good mix of pace and spin bowlers which gives us a diverse range of options,” said Faunt.

The Barramundis will play Kenya in two International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cricket League Championship (WCLC) matches on Saturday, May 28 and Monday, May 30, at Amini Park in Port Moresby.
