Harlequins secure grand final Spot

Harlies remained in the match both in attack and defense. They came well prepared with big game experience.

They took advantage of the opportunities and converted them into points. Harlies converted 3 of 5 conversions to go along with an unconverted try to finish on 14 points.

Defence lost its composure and were put under enormous scoreboard pressure. This forced them to cause uncharacteristic errors although there were some glimpses of succeeding.

Harlies women off to strong start

Though missing most of their stars from last year’s grand final winning team, Harlies fielding a second string side proved too strong for the Hunters girls throughout the contest.

A dominant performance by the defending Queens, Harlequins in the opening round of preseason has set a good platform for the team as they kick start their campaign to defend the title this season.

Harlies recent success story is driven by a strong family oriented team culture. Their free flowing game and flare has become a trademark which is rubbing off on the new girls in the team.

Sports Tok Sevens kicks off

There are 24 men’s teams and four women’s teams taking part in the two-day event. Teams taking part include Harlequins, Juggernauts, Crusaders, Brothers and Baike Brothers.

Three teams from outside centres also made the trip into the nation’s capital to participate: PNG Highlanders, MadGauns and Black Orchids.

Tournament coordinator, Paul Joseph, said: “We have six pools of four teams for the men’s and one pool of four teams for the women’s.

“All teams will play three games each today and after the last matches we will rank the teams from 1-24.

Harlequins 33-28 Wasps

Wasps raced into a 21-0 lead and their fourth try after 55 minutes gave them a 16-point advantage against the bottom team in Pool One.

James Haskell was sent off for Wasps after a late flurry of tries saw Quins trail 28-26 with 10 minutes left.

Then came James Chisholm's 80th-minute winner for Quins for their first victory in the competition this season.

One negative for Quins and England was an eye injury to full-back Mike Brown.

Francis Saili moves to Harlequin

The 26-year-old two-test All Black put pen to paper on a long-term deal with the London club, completing a switch from Irish side Munster.

Harlequins director of rugby John Kingston did not specify the length of contract, but said he was delighted to get the barnstorming midfielder on a "long-term contract".

"He is a high class, quality player who is comfortable at either 12 or 13. Alongside his obvious talent, he will help balance the squad further by being available for us all season, which is just as important, given our ambitions as a club.
