Guns issue

He spoke with Republican Senator John Cornyn about a bipartisan bill that seeks to improve the checks in place before someone can buy a gun.

The suspect in last week's Florida school shooting, in which 17 people died, bought his gun legally. Nikolas Cruz appeared in court on Monday.

Students from the school have demanded action on gun control.

In the meeting held with police as a result of fighting in the area over the weekend a concerned community leader Jacob John told police that there is a big issue of guns in the settlement area.

John alleges that in the recent fight two M16 guns were used to intimidate members of the community.

In response Metropolitan police Commander Ben Turi told John to liaise with police and come forward with information into the people who are holding the weapons.

Turi says that the community needs to take ownership of the law and order issue in the area.
