456 graduate from Kiunga Secondary

The school celebrated its 45th Grade 10 and 22nd Grade 12 graduation under the theme ‘Improving the status quo of our school’.

Led by traditional singsing group, the graduates and invited guests walked into graduation arena, all smiles.

KSS Principal, Sowati Ole said though the school did not have enough funds to cater for teaching and learning activities this academic year, hardworking teachers ensured that students were taught well enough to sit for the national exams.

North Goroka Primary elevated to high school

The graduation coincided with the opening of two 4 in 1 double classrooms.

Board chairman, Willie Yoba, thanked the school board and management, as well as its teachers for ensuring that the school operations ran smoothly throughout the academic year, ending on a good note.

Principal Education Advisor, Albert Wesley, witnessed the graduation. He declared that North Goroka demonstration primary school will be elevated to high school status and operate as one in 2023.

Kiunga Secondary students graduate

The school held its 45th Grade 10 and 22nd Grade 12 graduation ceremony themed, “Improving the status quo of our school” in Kiunga yesterday.

Of the 456 students, 315 were Grade 10's from seven classes and 141 were Grade 12's from four classes.

Students were encouraged that their educational journey has not ended and they must work hard and continue to learn and improve because learning is a process.

UOG Graduates Early Childhood Educators

Recently 25 participants graduated with Bachelor under the IDFL School Management program whilst almost 300 graduated with Diplomas in Early Childhood Education.

A first for the three provinces of Chimbu, Jiwaka, and Mt Hagen; a good number of individuals, from a cross-section of early childhood providers, made the effort to make the day memorable.

Described as a double event, under the PKS project it was possible for early childhood trainers to receive not only their Diplomas but also the good news that they will now be finally on the government payroll.

Igam joint forces to graduate

Chief instructor of the PNG Joint Forces Academy, Lieutenant Colonel Donald Aisuk, said this was the final church parade before the 38 cadets graduate on Wednesday, August 24th.

“The cadets have undergone a joint forces commissioning course which took 18 months,” said Lt Col Aisuk.

“During the 18 months, they have gone through training modules of leadership tactics, management, physical training and administration.

“The course itself is 18 months but due to logistic support and delays beyond our control, they’ve been here for nearly two years.

Reservists graduate in time for election duties

The second intake for 2022 included 123 women.

Police Commissioner David Manning said the reserve recruits had undergone police work ethics, community policing, basic investigation, and police arrest procedures including electoral offences.

He added that RPNGC is taking all necessary steps to train competent and model citizens in their respective communities.

Police officers upskilled

Present to witness the ceremony was Police Commissioner David Manning.

Commissioner Manning congratulated his officers for choosing to sacrifice their time from work and family to upskill themselves, adding that personal development is an individual’s choice. 

The graduates are officers within the operations and administration wing of the constabulary.

“We in the constabulary see the need to better ourselves in making sure that we serve our people,” he stated.

Perseverance pays off for former Miss PNG

Former Miss PNG, Niawali Twain, issued this statement after receiving her UPNG degree on Friday.

From a mixed parentage of Manus and East New Britain, the beaming Niawali Twain gracefully walked up to get her degree from the UPNG chancellor in the first session of the 64th graduation ceremony. 

The beauty queen was crowned Miss PNG in 2017, was the Queen Emma Chocolates Brand Ambassador and is the chaperone of the current Miss PNG and Miss Pacific Islands, Leoshina Kariha.

Over 1,000 graduate

In spite of the political infighting that has plagued the institution since February this year, graduants proudly walked up to receive their hard-earned certificates.

1,221 students graduated from the five schools within the University of Papua New Guinea during today’s 64th graduation ceremony. 

The School of Medicine and Health Sciences, the School of Natural and Physical Sciences and the School of Law were in the first session while the second session consisted of the School of Business and Public Policy and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Meet Gordon secondary’s Gr 12 science dux

Parents, guardians, friends and relatives in Port Moresby turned up to witness the closing of a chapter in their loved one’s life.

281 outgoing Grade 12 students received their attainment certificates today at the Gordon Secondary School hall.

Wearing their white and maroon uniforms for the last time, students from the seven Grade 12 classes walked up to receive their certificates in front of proud family members.

Among them was Grace Mageo, who was awarded dux of the Grade 12 science students.
