Gigira Laitepo aim to step up

After five rounds in the Telikom National Soccer League competition, Gigira are sitting fourth in the Southern Conference pool out of six teams.

They have recorded one win, two draws and two losses.

But coach Robert Sabadi says his team has been working hard over the Christmas break to improve on these two vital areas. These areas are to improve their defense and create more opportunities to score more points.

“These areas are what win games. We’ve had a few injuries in the team but it’s nothing serious and the boys are all ready for the new year,” Sabadi said.

Gigira gets K100,000 from Kumul Petroleum

The cheque presentation was done today at the Bisini Grounds and witnessed by the players and club officials.

General Manager Government & Community Affairs, Ian Marru said Kumul Petroleum was happy to support sports in the country in both urban and the rural areas.

He said the sponsorship of K100,000 is the biggest support so far given to sports.

“Kumul Petroleum is happy to partner with a team that has a name that reflects the famous Hela Gas prophesy which we are associated with through the PNG LNG Project.
