Christmas joy at the PMGH

Thanks to their extensive network of corporate and NGO contacts, including the benevolent White angels from Total Energy, the Children Cancer Ward and Children Emergency Ward were graced with love and support.

The hospital expressed their gratitude to Friends of PomGen for their generous contributions and wished everyone a Merry Christmas. Meanwhile, Santa Claus visited the Special Nursery Care ward, bringing joy to newborns and their mothers.

This thoughtful gesture was made possible by the kind-hearted friends at iCare4U, who gifted the ward with many presents.

Supplies for mothers and babies

The donations were distributed to the Paediatric Ward, Special Nursery Care and the Maternity Admission ward.

The donations comprised of baby care packages like diapers for new borns, sanitary wipes, water bottles, S26 powder milk, laundry detergents, fruits, new baby clothes and blankets. 

Friends of PomGen have been overwhelmed by the response they have been receiving since putting an advert out on social media, requesting help with supplies for mothers who were unable to afford these necessities.

 

Hospital Gets Timely Support

The assistance of garden food and protein were worth K3000 and PNG Country Director, Priscilla Sine Mal said this is yet another donation from HOPE worldwide PNG to PMGH through Friends of POMGEN.

She said in October 2021, they donated K30,000 worth of PPE supplies to assist with COVD-19 response at PMGH.

Ms Mal said that as a local NGO serving PNG for over 20 years, they remain committed to serving the people in big and small ways by harnessing the local and international volunteers to serve.

PMGH Donation Addresses Pandemic Surge

With kindness still in the world of Friends of POMGen, it has donated and also received materials on behalf of the Port Moresby General Hospital (PMGH) that will address the surge in the pandemic.

The PMGH recently received wonderful donations that are immensely important support to the staff and patients of the hospital.

Sakura Marine Ltd donated to the hospital 38,000 facemasks that will cater for all staff and patients during this pandemic surge.

KPMG Cheer Up Children’s Cancer Ward

KPMG’s staff made a special visit to the Children’s Cancer Ward, they brought bags of gifts to share with the children, patients and staff at PMGH Pediatric Oncology Ward.

KPMG’s Head of Audit, Herbert Maguma, who delivered the donation said: “We are blessed to bring smiles and cheer to the kids at the Children Cancer Ward. With the help of Friends of POMGEN, we prepared some presents for the kids and a cash donation to assist with day-to-day operations of the Cancer Ward.

Maternity Ward Gets Donation

Members of BSP iCare Program presented more than 200 gift bags to mothers. The donation was made possible with the support of Friends of POMGEN who coordinated all donations.

BSP iCare is a community-based program that engages BSP staff members to come together and support the surrounding community in whatever ways they can.

Gifts Wrapped With Love

Co-Founder of Friends of PomGen, Naarai Banam was on hand to receive the gifts. 

More than 200 gifts were wrapped to give to all the Children in the Pediatric Ward at Port Moresby General Hospital. 

This was an initiative of their School Parent Group TEMIS to encourage their students to share the love this Christmas especially with children at the hospital. 

TEMIS Parent Group Chairlady Melissa Belford said, “On behalf of the TEMIS Parent Group, we feel so blessed to be part of the Christmas Giving program for POMGEN. “

Hospital Gets PPEs

The donation is part of Ela Motors’ continuous support to the hospital since the pandemic began in 2020.

Ela Motors National Marketing Manager, Benjamin Niligur, thanked the Friends of POMGen and their effort to support POMGEN.

“On behalf of Ela Motors, we extend our appreciation to Friends of POMGEN and what they do for our National Hospital and as part of our annual ‘Corporate Social Responsibility Program’ we are happy to donate PPE supplies ranging from face shields, gloves, hand sanitizers, masks and gowns,” Mr Niligur said. 

Miss Alibi Backs Friends of POMGen

In sealing this commitment, Miss Alibi, Writer Collin donated 20 beds and kitchen utensils from her sponsor in partnership with Jay Mart to the charity.

The donated items would go to a soon to be refurbished children’s cancer ward at the hospital.

Miss Collin, made known that she would use her platform to raise awareness on the work of the organization and raise funds for their cause.

Friends of POMGen is a newly established fundraising arm of the Port Moresby General Hospital that works with donors and supporters to address areas of need within the hospital.

MPIP PNG donates to POMGEN

The donations were part of an appeal by the charity to support the Covid-19 patients at the Port Moresby General Hospital and other care centers.

Friends of POMGEN is a new charity established by the Board of Port Moresby General Hospital to help fill in the gaps where the government is unable to support those that are in need at the hospital.
