Frangipani Festival to colour Rabaul

The main feature of the event is the famous Frangipani Festival, which will begin on Friday, September 15th, and continue to Saturday, which is PNG’s 48th anniversary.

The organising committee, headed by chairlady and local businesswoman, Susan McGrade, were on air at the local NBC East New Britain radio station yesterday to talk about the program.

Ms McGrade said the organising committee comprises of volunteers; three of which accompanied her for the talk-show – Lilly Blake, Albert Konie and Conrad Jui. All of them were born in Rabaul and are proud to call it home.

This year’s theme, “The coconut palm – the tree of life”, is sure to result in amazing displays of flair and creativity.

Businesses houses have already pledged Gold and Platinum sponsorship of the event.

Rabaul town is set to come alive tomorrow and Saturday to commemorate the 22nd anniversary of the 1994 twin volcanic eruptions and celebrate Papua New Guinea’s 41st year of independence.

On Saturday  Sept 17, the streets of Rabaul will be full of colour as the float parade involving business houses that operate in ENB make their way through town.

Music festival to be a hit in ENB

Governor and Kokopo MP Ereman ToBaining Jnr has contributed a total K60,000 in 2014 towards this event which marks the beginning of one of the many successful events that will coincide with the country’s Independence every September.

There has been an increase in funding from last year since its initial funding.

Last year, ToBaining committed K150,000 which has established a milestone in rehabilitation of the music industry as well as providing employment opportunities.

Planning underway for ENB’s Frangipani festival
