Changes anticipated in ELCPNG youth conference

The event in Morobe Province will be more interactive and fun.

ELCPNG National Youth Director, Tony Kundang, remarked that the traditional manner of facilitating the youth conference will undergo subtle changes.

Kundang noted that during each conference, youth delegates, often numbering over 800, usually discuss agenda, receive progress reports on work, and discuss outcomes, as well as engage in other conversations on issues and challenges affecting youth programmes, activities and related schedules.

Finschhafen starts polling

Ward 1 at Butaweng started off first after Finschhafen Urban Assistant Returning Officer officially declared it open.

ARO Essau Lilibur said polling for the LLG will run for four days.

Since the polling venue was at the Braun Memorial Hospital, Lilibur had to explain to those who turned up that only members of the community will vote; patients will have to go to their respective wards.

“Yupla kominiti insait lo hia yupla gat neim lo rol, yupla ken kam na vout,” he stated.

ECG Machines For District Hospitals

Braun District Hospital, a level 4 hospital under the National Health Service Standards in the Finschhafen District, and Etep Rural Hospital, a level 3 hospital in Tewai-Siassi of Morobe Province, will be receiving an ECG each, donated by Rotary Australia.

This follows a presentation last Friday, 10th June to the Secretary of the Lutheran Health Services, Katu Yapi, by the Morobe Provincial Health Authority (MoPHA) chairman, David Wissink.

Major impact projects for Kotec LLG

The main impact projects include the Kotec LLG Ring Road and the Kotec LLG Police Station.

Minister Paita said the Kótec LLG Ring Road Project  will cover Kotec ring road (Bonga - Wareo Zaferio Yunzaing New Cut) as feeder road to the main Lae-Finschhafen Highway which is currently under construction.

“This road project is covered under the Connect Finschhafen Policy through the Finschhafen District Five Year Integrated Development Plan capturing the Marape-Basil Government of Connect PNG Policy.”

Morobe’s second ‘School of Academy’ declaration

Sasiu Primary School, located on a mountain in Finschhafen district, was given this status following its official opening.

The Sasiu Primary School of the Burum-Kuat LLG in Finschhafen graduated its first batch of Grade Eight students in 2018.

The school and its teachers’ houses were built under the initiative of local man Robin Bazzinuc, who is also the Morobe deputy administrator social sector.

The school caters to over 300 children of the mountain village of Siu, including neighbouring villages.
