NSL standings after round five

The current NSL champions have made it four from four, putting them on top with 12 competition points. Following closely behind is Madang FC on 10 points.

FC Morobe Wawens are making their presence felt, registering their second win last weekend to put them in third spot.

Besta PNG United FC and Southern Strikers FC are in fourth and fifth place respectively and have both racked up three points each.

Bringing up the rear are FC Momase and Buang FC.

Matches in round six will be played in Port Moresby and Lae this weekend.

Besta notch first win

Besta struck first in the 25th minute of the match with a goal from Barty Korebin.

The score was made level six minutes into the second half when Elton Banam sunk one for his side.

Besta dominated the remainder of the match and it paid off with goals to Emmanuel Simongi in the 85th and Jonathan Allan in the first minute of stoppage time.

"We came prepared to play today. But there was a lot we didn't do right. We still have a lot of work to do,” said Besta PNG United FC coach, Harrison Kamake.
