EMPNG, Bel isi announce partnership

Bel isi PNG provides access to case management, counselling and safe house services and provides business leaders with transformational tools to support change in the workplace and community.

ExxonMobil PNG Managing Director, Andrew Barry, said EMPNG is committed to providing a safe, healthy and supportive workplace.

“We all have a role to play in the effort to eradicate FSV from our society and in ensuring proper help is available for its victims in safe and supporting environments,” said Andrew.

Inaugural SME Digital Innovation Awards

The awards is the result of a partnership between ExxonMobil PNG Limited and the IBBM Enterprise Centre.

The 2018 SME Digital Innovation Awards will be presented at the PNG APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Summit.

It will focus on SMEs that utilise digital technology innovation as part of their processes, or that provide a service using technology.

Awards will be presented across three categories including micro, small and medium enterprises.

EMPNG’s update on quake-impacted facilities

The two LNG trains at the PNG LNG plant near Port Moresby have been safely shut down following yesterday’s shut down of the Hides Gas Conditioning Plant and Hides well pads in Hela Province.

In a statement, EMPNG said: “We are continuing to work with our customers to minimise the impact.

“Evacuation of non-essential personnel from the Hides Conditioning Plant will continue today.

“Specialist engineers are also flying into Hides to join remaining personnel on site to assist with damage and repair assessments.

EMPNG backs Olympic values program

The K231,700 support will ensure the OVEP continues to integrate sporting values and physical activity into a cultural and educational framework, promoting the three Olympic values of respect, friendship and excellence.

Both organisations believe in the power of education to improve the nation.

ExxonMobil PNG has supported OVEP since 2015. The program was extended to other centres in the country, reaching over 3000 students from schools in the Central Province, Port Moresby, Lae, Kimbe, Mendi, Alotau and Mt. Hagen in 2016.

​New basketball court for Para Primary School

This is one of the objectives of a youth empowerment program which is giving young men and women in Hela Province a chance to believe in their potential.

The youth empowerment program is a partnership between ExxonMobil PNG Limited (ExxonMobil PNG) and the Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea, which combines basketball skills training with a concentration on teamwork, social skills, sportsmanship and life skills.

ExxonMobil backs roll out of BoM program in Central

The training program uses a manual developed by Esmie Sinapa Development Consultants and funded by ExxonMobil PNG with support from the Central Provincial Government in 2016.

The School Board of Management training manual is aimed at improving school board governance and leadership capabilities and its development involved extensive consultation and pilot training with boards of management from schools near the LNG Plant.

New sports infrastructure for Hela School

Operator of the PNG LNG Project, ExxonMobil PNG Limited, handed over the improved basketball court in February to Juni Primary School.

In partnership with the Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea (BFPNG), ExxonMobil PNG initiated a youth empowerment program that incorporates both life-skills training and Olympic values awareness, using basketball as the medium.

World Wildlife Day gets K50,000 boost

This is the second consecutive year ExxonMobil PNG (EMPNG) has partnered with the Park to highlight World Wildlife Day.

Port Moresby Nature Park’s general manager, Michelle McGeorge, said: “ExxonMobil PNG is a major partner of the Nature Park, spanning over the last four years which has enabled us to achieve a great number of projects and we are really excited about how big this year’s World Wildlife Day is going to be, with over 18 conservation and Government organisations already confirmed.”

Hela school sees renovation of classroom

In partnership with the Evangelical Church of PNG and the local community, the full maintenance of a double classroom for Grade five and six students was carried out. Complementing the improved learning environment was the supply of 40 new desks.

The refurbishment of the double classroom is part of ExxonMobil PNG’s commitment to assisting upgrade in schools in PNG LNG project area communities.

New health facility for Hela

The development represents over one million kina investment by PNG LNG and will provide improved healthcare for communities close to the Hides Gas Conditioning Plant, the firm said in a statement. 

“The Sub-Health Centre will provide inpatient services, midwifery services and pre-natal care to hundreds of local women. 

“With the new facility, a labour ward and an antenatal care area will now allow women to deliver babies and recuperate where as previously, they were sent home straight after delivery.
