FAO empowers agripreneurs for gender equality

The capacity-building workshop, titled "Group Enterprise Development," was organized by the FAO under the EU-STREIT PNG Programme. With the participation of 48 individuals, including women and youth, the workshop facilitated discussions and presentations on Group Agribusiness Management, Group Dynamics, Financial Literacy, and Gender and Youth Inclusion in agri-businesses.

During the workshop, FAO Gender and Youth Inclusion Specialist, Patu Shang emphasized that poor accountability and management often lead to business failure.

Green finance policy launched

The ceremony was presided over by Prime Minister James Marape, who encouraged government departments, state-owned enterprises, financial institutions, and MSMEs to collaborate and utilize this policy as a foundation for building a green business economy.

In his address, the Prime Minister stated, “We celebrate the establishment of the Green Finance Policy by the Bank of PNG, which I believe is the first of many steps toward transitioning Papua New Guinea from a high-carbon economy to a sustainable and blue economy."

Shannon is the Marketing Officer for Em Stret Space, a co-working hub for entrepreneurs. They work towards creating and fostering an inclusive innovative ecosystem for entrepreneurs by creating opportunities for startups, freelancers, aspiring entrepreneurs, students and SME’s to grow, develop and scale.

The E-Space marketing Officer says what she loves most about her job is, ‘Meeting new people’.

Shannon has worked with E-Space for three years now. She said a normal day at work would consist of her talking to many entrepreneurs.

Chasing the Dream

George Ah-Ken, known to his family and friends as Georgie Boy, is a young man chasing the dream in East New Britain. The 29 year old Rabaul Town native owns and operates GBoii Servo, a successful fuel company with service stations in Rabaul and Kokopo.

Women expo set for tomorrow

This program is focused on encouraging entrepreneurs to scale up and grow their business beyond their domestic markets to international markets within the 21 APEC Economies. 

It will be hosted by the Department for Community Development & Religion.  

The department is now extending the invitation to all women entrepreneurs and small business owners throughout the country.

Southern Region will be the first, which commences tomorrow, March 22-23 in Port Moresby, NCD.
