PNG’s next generation of engineers

Graduate trainee engineers from the Papua New Guinea University of Technology, Maclayia Au and Rosemary Enoka, are currently working on the highway in Goroka.

Both young professionals talk with pride about how they intend to use their careers to improve rural communities’ access to basic services.

Au says she has seen firsthand the importance of good road connectivity for rural communities.

Civil engineer strengthens capability

This requires continuous learning and expansion of their knowledge and skills.

Supported by the Papua New Guinea-Australia Partnership, engineers at the Department of Works (DoW) in East Sepik Province are receiving on-the-job training to assist the Department’s transition to Long Term Maintenance Contracts in alignment with the Government of PNG’s National Road Network Strategy 2018-2037.
