Institutes host combined graduation

Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, Don Polye and Enga Governor Peter Ipatas were present to witness the ceremony.

Thirty-three students from Enga Teachers College graduated with a Bachelor of Education in Primary Teaching and a Certificate in Inclusive Education. In comparison, 50 students from UOG Enga Campus graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English, Bachelor of Science in Biology, Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Bachelor of Science in Physics.

Enga Teachers College Affiliates With UOG

This was his comments when he officially signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with University of Goroka yesterday. In the MoA the University will be running a four year Bachelor of Education (Primary) program phasing out the two year diploma programs previously run.

These affiliation processes are part of the National Executive Council (NEC) decision (54/1995) that requires higher education institutions to be unified by transferring post grade 12 and tertiary programs from respective departments to the Department of Higher Education Research, Science and Technology (DHERST).

Principal applauds Governor’s vision

The Enga Teachers College principal, Michael Homingu, pointed this out during a visit by Enga Governor, Sir Peter Ipatas, and his guest, Australian High Commissioner, Jonathan Philp.

Enga was in a hype on the morning of Wednesday, June 17th, as Philp and his second secretary, Yasmine Davis, arrived at the Kumul border separating Western Highlands and Enga.

Traditional dancers, with bodies glowing with oil and paint, started off the welcome at the border boom gate.

PNG, Australia to expand teacher training in Enga

The K10 million project includes a library, a state-of-the-art science and computer lab, 16 classrooms and extra male and female toilets. All new facilities will be accessible to people with disabilities.

The project will increase access to primary teacher training to meet the demand for primary school teachers nationwide, including in Enga.

Australian High Commissioner Bruce Davis and Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas launched the project in Wabag.

Sir Peter said the project will also help create 500 jobs during the construction phase.

ICT boost for teaching colleges

Dauli Teachers College, Enga Teachers College, Melanesian Nazarene Teachers College, Holy Trinity College, Balob Teachers College, Madang Teachers College, Gaulim Teachers College and St Peter Chanel Teachers College were proud beneficiaries of this upgrade, supported by the Australian government in partnership with the Government of Papua New Guinea.
