ESP signs deal with IRC

The MOU forges a partnership between the East Sepik Provincial Government and IRC to increase compliance activities in the province.

The MOU was signed by Governor Allan Bird and his administration and IRC Commissioner General, Sam Koim.

Governor Bird described the MOU as a culmination of two-and-a-half years of preparatory work.

“One of the first thing I did when taking office as governor was to check the internal revenue resources,” stated Bird.

Big changes in store for ESP

Provincial leader Allan Bird made this known to the public in Wewak Town recently, while handing over four new police vehicles to the provincial police hierarchy.

He said his government has made law and order its area of priority in order to ensure development can progress in the province.

Governor Bird addressed the public and members of the provincial constabulary that the provincial government will support it with K30 thousand per month to address law and order issues across the six districts.

ESP notes progress in financial system

During its 2019 budget handover early this week, Governor Allan Bird spoke highly of the system, saying it comes at a time when his government is focused on building its capacity in governance and public service.

At the presentation of the East Sepik Province 2019 budget to Treasury, Governor Allan Bird commended the national government for implementing the Integrated Financial Management System, which will help the provincial government physically implement its budget this year.

“MPs will be able to see how LLG funds are being utilised,” said Bird.

Polye said he was not talking down the country’s investment and the economy but was shedding a light on realities.

When commenting on the project, Polye said he would not be surprised to see this project as another scam to bleed taxpayers’ money.

He said when he was the Treasury Minister he budgeted K50 million for Sepik Plain under a commercialisation plan.
