Formal training needed for fashion designers

This has been stressed by Dylan Yaruso, a young Papua New Guinean who is surely making his way into the new industry.

Like him, he says there are many who are passionate but need confidence in developing the talent into a more viable skill.

“We should have an avenue where more people like me can go to grow our talent. Fashion is new but it has quickly been grasped by many so if the authorities can, it would be good to focus on arts and fashion,” he said.

Fashion comp inspires 20yo

The 20-year-old is one of the seven designers competing in Lamana Gold Club’s ICE PNG FASHION 2016.

This annual competition presents a platform for models and designers both, where Yaruso joined last year, trying for both categories.

This year though, the young boy from Northern Province is focusing on his passion to design.

He has turned heads with his Dyarlli brand.

In the last heat, Yaruso modelled his own design, showing off a funky cool look for the PNG Musician Performance category.
