Rap legend Dr Dre in hospital after brain aneurysm

The 55-year-old was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Monday, TMZ reported.

In a post on Instagram, he said: "I'm doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team."

He is "resting comfortably" after the aneurysm, his lawyer told Billboard.

In his post, Dr Dre also wrote: "I will be out of the hospital and back home soon. Shout out to all the great medical professionals at Cedars. One Love!!"

Friends and fellow stars have sent their well wishes after the reports of his ill health emerged.

Dr. Dre briefly detained by police

This happened after police received a call from a motorist who alleged he had been threatened with a gun, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirms to CNN.

The caller claimed he had parked his car in front of a Malibu residence when the owner of the home ordered him to leave and showed a handgun, police said.

Upon arriving at the scene, police detained the "Straight Outta Compton" producer, who matched the description provided by the caller, according to the police's statement.

While “Straight Outta Compton” opened Aug. 14 to critical acclaim and hit No. 1 at the box office over the weekend by pulling in $56.1 million, the positive debut has been mired in criticism that it overlooked some of the pioneering rap group’s darker hallmarks, specifically N.W.A’s misogynistic lyrics and much more serious, a physical assault by Dre of female hip-hop journalist Denise "Dee" Barnes.
