Digicel opens donation line

CEO Valde Ferradaz made the announcement while handing over a cheque of K636,000 to Prime Minister Peter O’Neill towards the cause.

Ferradaz says that since the earthquake struck, the company’s technical staff have been dispatched into the affected areas to ensure the communication network remains effective.

“When the earthquake struck we lost 66 towers, destroyed mainly in the highlands region, and we mobilised 9 of our top teams to go into the region by helicopter and try and connect the nation as quickly as possible.

Digicel PNG acknowledges women

A small part significant event was held within Digicel PNG’s head office in Port Moresby on March 8 to acknowledge the efforts of its female employees on International Women’s Day.

Amongst those present was CEO Valde Ferradaz, who acknowledged that women play an important role in influencing and shaping society.

“Male ego is dangerous for the planet, making men self-centred.

“The empowering of women is a necessity for balance,” explained Valde Ferradaz.

Digicel donates over half a million to earthquake initiative

While the initial earthquake saw lives lost and created extensive damage, the aftershocks have continued to cause damage, destruction and stress on the people of the Southern Highlands Province.

Digicel was also heavily impacted during these earthquakes, having 66 of its towers affected within the province on the day of the 7.5 magnitude earthquake.

Digicel opens Staff Family shop

The shop was opened today by Digicel PNG CEO, Valde Ferradaz, who stated that it is a great initiative for sales as well as training for the staff.

The opening of the shop will now enable the retail staff among others to go through practical training on how to make sales in Digicel outlets or shops throughout the country.

It was also revealed that the shop was purposely initiated as a centre for excellence for staff involved in sales and ensure product awareness for training purposes.

Huawei Technologies, in collaboration with Digicel PNG, officially launched the latest entry to the ‘P’ series during a breakfast event.

The P10 smartphone is the latest Huawei ‘P’ series model to hit the market, boasting technological improvements rivaling that of other brands.

What gives the P10 an edge over its rival brands is its camera which has been co-engineered with Leica, a German company that manufactures optics and high end cameras.

Challenges of life after sports

Captain of the PNG Hunters Ase Boas says that this is a sad reality that many face.

Boas and his team mates took part in a recent financial literacy training given by Digicel PNG.

The training focused on being money smart and ways to enable simple saving measures.

Facilitated by the Digicel Learning center, the one day training which was broken up into two separate sessions for the team helped the team to be more money minded in their approach to saving and spending.

The telecommunication and entertainment company unequivocally refutes the false statements, which have been widely circulated on social media.

Digicel’s senior management team says: “Since launching its operations in 2007, Digicel has invested significantly in Bougainville and provided employment and other business opportunities, both directly and indirectly, to many individuals and businesses in Bougainville. 

“Digicel intends to continue investing in Bougainville and remains fully committed to the people of Bougainville.”
