All hyped for Digicel Cup final!

It is a culmination of 18 weeks of regular rounds and 3 weeks of the preliminary and elimination finals.

There were great excitements all around at a grand final media conference on August 4th as the 2019 grand finalists face the media to talk briefly about their preparation for the big decider this Sunday.

Without giving too much away, Stanley Tepend, coach of Lae Snax Tigers, confidently said despite the long breaks in between during the finals, his boys have been able to remain focused and will give it their best come Sunday.

Cutters, Lahanis match moved to Kokopo

PNG National Rugby League Competition (PNGNRLC) Manager, Stanley Hondina, said late this afternoon that this is due to the uncertainty of flights in and out of Hoskins.

“This game was originally scheduled to be played in Kimbe this weekend but with the recent turn of events, I advise that this cannot be played in Kimbe and has been moved to Kokopo for a double header this Sunday July 7th at Kalabond oval,” Hondina said.

K480,000 for Central Dabaris

Gas Resources PNGLNG PLANT Ltd have now come on board as major sponsors for the new rugby league franchise.

Gas Resources PNGLNG Plant Ltd is a community trust company of the four impacted villages of Central Province – Papa, Lealea, Boera and Porebada.

Chairperson Ulato Avei said since they believe in unity and the culture of sharing, the board of directors made the bold decision of supporting the Central Dabaris Rugby League Inc.

Digicel Cup: Three in, one out

Central Dabari and Kimbe Cutters are the new entries while the Mt Hagen Eagles re-enter the comp after a two-year suspension.

They join the remaining nine teams which are premiers Bintangor Goroka Lahanis, PRK Mendi Muruks, EPG Enga Mioks, Giru Waghi Tumbe, Lae Snax Tigers, Kroton Hela Wigmen, NCDC Vipers, PRK Gulf Isou and Agmark Rabaul Gurias.

The Chimbu Warriors unfortunately have been omitted after failing to meet certain requirements set last season by the Papua New Guinea National Rugby League Competition (PNGNRLC) Board.
