Public servants ready to uphold core values

The group included public servants from central agencies and provincial representatives from Gulf, Milne Bay, Northern (Oro) and Western provinces.

Taies Sansan, Acting Secretary for the Department of Personnel Management, said all public servants can be leaders in effectively delivering services at the national, provincial and district levels.

“To shape the future of our nation we need leaders in the public service that are ethical, capable and values-based,” she said.

New head of National Youth Development Authority

Itaki replaces Reuben Akia, who was acting on the position since 2018.

Itaki is from from Wapenamanda District in the Enga Province and has served in the public service for over 16 years.

He served as executive manager to the Office of Secretary and recently got appointed as Acting Deputy Secretary for Community Development in the Department for Community Development and Religion.

He recently attained a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Korea.

Senior public servants sworn in

The signing took place before Governor General Sir Bob Dadae and Acting Secretary for the Department of Personnel Management, Taies Sansan.

Five senior public servants had their employment contracts executed by Sir Bob Dadae today at the Government house.

Gulf and Morobe provincial administrators, Marc Orisuru Avai and Bart Ipambonj, will be the provincial heads for the next four years.

Sansan reappointed as DPM acting secretary

O’Neill made the announcement recently after Ms Sansan was recommended by the Ministerial Executive Appointment Committee.

The reappointment has been effective as of Feb 8, 2018, up to May 8, 2018 or until a substantive appointment is made, whichever occurs first.

“I congratulate Ms Sansan on her reappointment given the confidence this government has in her ethical conduct in office,” stated the PM.

Leadership courses to empower women

Deputy Secretary of the Department of Personnel Management, Taies Sansan, said women make up only 12 percent of all executive management positions while only less than 25 percent make the public service.

She said with more leadership courses, these unfavourable statistics may be improved.

Sansan added the introduction of Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) will assist in this area.

“The GESI Policy demands equal access to opportunities recruitment and promotion on merit, transparent processes and decision making that is free from bias.

Strong, ethical public servants needed

This was the message during the recent opening of a three-day public speaking and speech writing course for public servants from various government agencies.

Deputy Secretary Taies Sansan, from the Department of Personnel Management, told participants of the course that the qualities were essential to drive change.

She said the short course would improve their communication skills internally as well as externally.

“It is important that you take the learning back to your organisation and apply it where necessary and be the change agents.

DPM to trial time keeping system

Public Service Minister, Elias Kapavore, announced this today during a hand-over take-over ceremony.

Kapavore takes over the role as Public Service Minister after Sir Puka Temu was appointed Health Minister.

He told public servants during the event that as the department responsible for the appointment and conduct of public servants in the country, it was necessary for them begin the roll out of the time keeping system.

Momase service delivery high on agenda

Secretary for Department of Personnel Management, John Kali, met with Madang Governor Jim Kas and his Provincial Administrator, Danny Aloi, to discuss capacity and capability development.

Their recent discussions centered around strengthening of institutional partnerships between Papua New Guinea Institution of Public Administration Northern Regional learning and development centre, Divine Word University, National Maritime College, Balob Teachers College and other relevant stakeholders.

Double killing during heavy downpour

Neighbours reported they found a body lying on the driveway after hearing six gun shots.

Loop PNG was at the Pacific International Hospital (PIH) last night when the victim was brought in.

According to the relatives, the victim, Raymond Logie, was a staff at the Department of Personnel Management. He was from West New Britain Province.

There was another unidentified male victim found shot dead at the scene.

Police cannot confirm whether the two deaths are related.
