C19 Taskforce set to visit provinces

According to the Department of Health Report on vaccination, 311,435 persons representing 6.1 percent of Papua New Guinea’s population have been fully vaccinated. This is a significantly low rate compared to other countries around the world.

To address the low uptake of vaccines in Papua New Guinea, the COVID-19 Vaccine Ministerial Taskforce will be coordinating the work undertaken by partners that contributed to addressing the negative impact of the global pandemic on the economy.

sounded this warning when receiving donations from the PNG Red Cross NCD Central Branch in Port Moresby on Friday. Dr. Daoni reminded the general public that we are still in the Pandemic phase and still need to be cautious.

“We still have the mask mandate and people need to be cautious. The things that we actually planned to do in the pandemic to mitigate the spread have not been adhered to by many people,” he said.

“We are going through a very challenging time at the moment.
