Workers’ Willingness Towards COVID-19 Vaccine

In order to help improve vaccination rates, business houses in PNG began to actively encourage vaccination rollout in the workplace. As “no jab, no job” has become the hallmark of many a PNG employers’ whip to enforce COVID-19 vaccine policy in the workplace, their workers were under pressure to choose between getting vaccinated and continue to work or lose their jobs if not vaccinated.

Yellow vaccine cards not for sale

Dr Liko issued the warning after receiving reports that there are people charging for the issuing of yellow cards.

“The yellow cards are processed and issued for free by the National Department of Health, and signed by the Secretary as the licensing authority. Anyone found to be soliciting money out of the yellow cards must be reported to NDoH,’’ he said.

Secretary Dr Liko said the people travelling overseas are required to produce an international Vaccine Certificate upon arrival in most countries.

Shanghai lockdown: China eases Covid restrictions after two months

Due to COVID-19, it created a world-wide shipment logistic problem and compounded with overseas supply shortage, creating a substantial drugs shortage for the Area Medical Store in NCD since last year.

For the past few months, NCD clinics were receiving substantially reduced medicine from AMS to replenish their stock, with many of the basic medicine such as paracetamol, antibiotics unavailable in the clinic. The nurses have had to ask the out-patients to buy the necessary medicine from pharmacies.

The Whānau Ora Manager for Pasifika health service, The Fono, Europa Kupu said that close to 100 families have sought their support.

"It's increasing by the day," she said.

"Most of the referrals are from different clusters and gatherings that's been happening in the past few weeks. With the amount of family and individuals getting tested we're seeing the increase of positive cases."

Kupu adds that more support is needed from the government.

Covid: Hong Kong's hospitals overwhelmed amid spike in cases

Fiji records drop in Covid-19 cases

     The Ministry of Health said there are now 141 active cases and only another 17 new cases were reported until 8am yesterday.

There is also one new Covid-19 death, who is a 91-year-old woman from the Central Division.

The woman died at her home on Thursday and was not vaccinated.

There have been a total of 820 deaths due to Covid-19 in Fiji.

Overall, there have been 63,406 cases of Covid-19 recorded.

The ministry said 91,414 people have received Moderna booster doses, and 60 people have received the Pfizer booster Covid-19 vaccine.
