Earthquake fever in the nation’s capital

First exclusive performance in Port Moresby since its formation, the Earthquake Fever Band will be taking the stage of Cosmopolitan on July 28.

EQF was formed in 2010, recording its first album under the quakes production with Patti Potts Doi as the sound engineer.

The album has 11 songs, including a gospel track.

In its 7th year of existence now, the full band of 9 members is coming to Port Moresby to perform their top songs such as BS, Member, King Kong, Vulcan Dust and Supulariana.

Fun continues despite election hype

The Cosmopolitan presented the RAPTURE 2017 – Flip the Script, Heat 2 on Thursday night, July 13.

20 rappers took 5 minutes set of “TRADITION YO LISTEN” last night – where they rapped about their cultural background and province.

This heat was province mentored by a popular hip-hop crew; PLANET NATIVE.

The competition saw a judge panel of local hip-hop artists like Sprigga Mek, Kamako of 3Kiings and Noxxy Dawg.

The fun continues tonight with live performances by Kolzone featuring Metere Crew, Wildpack, Knotts Blunt, Tarvin Toune & Drex Blunteh.

RAP-TURE 2017 – Flip the Script launches

The Cosmopolitan club is launching RAP-TURE 2017 – Flip the Script competition.

This is its second year which will see the club present 20 young rappers competing over the course of 8 weeks.

Each contestant will introduce themselves with a 5 min freestyle performance tonight that should set the pace and give a sneak-peak into the coming weeks.

The show is hyped to showcase off “the dopest rhymes, hottest lines and sickest flows with rhythm and rhyme”.

Sheppard to rock POM tonight

The last time in the country was in 2014.

The youngest of the sisters, Emma, says there are so many great memories and it’s good to be back.

According to elder sister Amy, the band started in PNG. The first show of what will go on to be the internationally recognised Sheppard began as a duet by Amy and George in Port Moresby’s Ela Murray international school.

They continued performing around Port Moresby and added a few more band members along the way, became confident in writing and growing music.

Sharzy and Kania hold family event

The two had agreed upon the idea for a night of father-and-son collaboration.

This idea was incorporated with Sharzy’s first leg of the Pacific Tour staged at the Cosmopolitan last night, February 24.

“We wanted to make it a family thing so it will be like Leonard and his son Silas Kania and Sharzy and his son Jaro Local. And we got the support of Tarvin Tounie and Dema Saul,” Sharzy said.

Even the crowd came in family groups to watch their favourite family-time artists.

The Cosmoplitan

Setting the celebratory mood with the Mardi Gras last night, February 23, The Cosmopolitan brings the Melanesian flavour back with Sharzy’s Pacific Bash.

This is the first leg of his Pacific Tour where the Solomon Island artist will feature local PNG musicians tonight, February 24.

Radio personalities in Mr Cosmopolitan contest

From the comforts of being MC’s at events, Bata Kiings and Bata Rat Sting of 99.5 Rait FM have taken on the challenge to contest for Mr Cosmopolitan.

Their journey began with the call out by the super club earlier this year for the first ever Mr Cosmopolitan competition.

Known for their creativity in engaging their audience, the whole journey has been kept in the public eye from rehearsals to auditions and the launch last night.

“Basically the event itself is content for our shows – trying to do something that we’ve never done before,” Bata Rat Sting said.

Mr Cosmopolitan competition launched

This was their first appearance as contestants for the Mr Cosmopolitan competition which will go on for the next six weeks.

Launching the event last night, the super club introduced the young men who will be frequenting their stage in the run to grab the Mr Cosmopolitan title.

Not much effort was needed to bond with the crowd as it was just a matter of taking their shirt off.

And despite the smaller crowd, the screams were enough to be heard above the loud music.

The contestants teased the crowd with an appetiser – modelling in gym wear and then formal wear.

Waga Shake brings crowd out at the Cosmopolitan

The six7five party kicked off at 11:30pm with guest performance – the man in dreads – O’Four starting up the heat.

Boys from CocoMahn Basement (CMB) took on the challenge to keep the crowd entertained dropping favourites including Basio lalo among others.

And yes, Narxson was in the house and he did turn the heat up with Meri Nakanai and Mangi Morobe.

But the magic happened when Planet Native stepped on the stage bringing harsh Hip Hop straight out of Port Moresby’s urban scene.

Mr Cosmopolitan audition attracts young male talent

The super club had its first audition last week attracting many young men in Port Moresby.

The second auditions will be held tomorrow, January 28.

The club aims to have 40 contestants to try out for the position to represent the Cosmopolitan club over the course of one year.

The competition is open to males between the ages of 18 – 30.

This is the first of its kind all-male pageant to be hosted by a night club in the country.

The Cosmopolitan late last year announced its Miss Cosmopolitan, also an idea it introduced.
