Sinclair breaks goal record

The attacker broke Abby Wambach's record when she scored her 185th goal for Canada in the 23rd minute of an 11-0 win over Saint Kitts and Nevis in Olympic Games qualifying.

Sinclair, 36, earlier opened the scoring with a seventh-minute penalty in her 290th international appearance.

United States legend Wambach - who netted her 184th goal in 2015 - held the record for over six years after surpassing compatriot Mia Hamm's 158 goals in June 2013.

"I definitely feel a relief," Sinclair, an international since 2000, told Canada Soccer.

Canadian women repeat as Olympic soccer bronze medallists

Beatriz scored the lone goal for the Brazilians, who had yielded just one goal in their previous five matches in the Olympic tournament.

"I was not going to leave this tournament without a medal around my neck," said a tearful Sinclair after the match.

Canada defeated France 1-0 four years ago to win bronze. The Brazilian women won silver in 2004 and 2008, finishing sixth at the 2012 Games. They placed fourth in 1996 and 2000.

Germany beat Sweden 2-1 later in the day to win their first-ever gold medal in women's soccer.
