The officers were at the IBS University on Wednesday 26th April to announce the Students’ Tuition subsidy for 17 students attending the university.

Goilala students grateful

This year Member for Goilala, Casmiro Aia had allocated funds to pay for students studying in 21 different tertiary institutions including IBS University who received the tuition scholarships on behalf of 17 students on Wednesday 26th April.

Hazel Kopa-IBS Scholar 1st year taking up Economics and development studies said total school fee for IBS is K16,000 per student per year, so a subsidy of this amount is very economical.

Aia asks for amendments

Aia said this will allow for the presence of open members on discussions regarding the development of their land.

“Can amendments be made to the Acts of the Extractive Industries so that can allow the presence of open members?

“Instead of being spectators on their land, to be at the dining table at the first place so that our people can have a fair, better and fair representation at all levels in terms of equity and also benefits sharing arrangements in whatever activity that takes place in this country,” said MP Aia.
