Budget Lock-up underway

The Press Lock-up is divided into two sessions.

Members of the media, business executives and other stakeholders were present to witness the handing down of the 2018 Budget.

The first session in the morning will include the Secretary for Treasury Dairi Vele and Planning Secretary Hakaua Harry doing their presentations.

Meantime, the afternoon session will include the Treasury Minister Charles Abel and Planning Minister Richard Maru.

Abel will then proceed to the chamber and table the 2018 Budget in Parliament at around 2:30pm.

K12.9b budget for 2017

This comprise of K9,182.2 million in tax revenue, K1,045.3 million in grants and K1,245.7 million from other sources of revenue.

Pruaitch, when announcing the 2017 Budget in a Budget Lock-up session today said the Budget has been framed in a way that will still prioritise the key government areas which include the education and health sector.
