Solar power top-up via mobile banking

The arrangement between Sola PayGo and BSP means Sola PayGo (SPG) customers can now purchase tokens through the BSP Mobile Banking.  The solar power (lights, panel, mobile charging bank, torch and/or radio) top-ups will be available under BSP’s Mobile Banking (*131#) Top Up service.

The solar kits by Sola PayGo will be made available to customers in pilot SPG’s locations in Central Province, the Highlands Region, specifically Goroka, Mt Hagen, Kainantu, Wabag and Gusap, and Wau and Bulolo in Morobe.

BSP supports cancer awareness

Funds presented were raised from a staff initiated morning tea fundraiser that was held on Friday 12th October to mark Breast Cancer Awareness month and raise awareness on cancer. 

Priscillar Napoleon, Executive Manager – Papua New Guinea Cancer Foundation, thanked the staff for the initiative and the support of the Bank and its employees.

“As a charitable organisation, PNGCF’s work would not be possible without the backing of local companies and individuals,” said Napoleon.

BSP supports National Law & Order Summit

The National Law & Order Summit 2018 will be held at the Lae International Hotel with the theme “Building Safer Communities through Crime Prevention Partnerships” and aims to collect views and opinions and share experiences from the Public and Private sectors, Churches, NGOs and Development Partners for practical partnership Crime Prevention actions.

BSP Deputy General Manager Kili Tambua said the Bank sees this forum as an opportunity for valuable sharing of ideas and information that will contribute to the development of the country. 

BSP supports racquets

More than 150 athletes are expected to participate in both disciplines for this year’s tournament with players flying in from Lae, Morobe Province and also from Cairns Australia to join the POM-based players.

BSP’s Head of Marketing, Gorethy Semi said that the bank is always proud to support and develop sports in PNG and believes that through tournaments such as this, selectors are able to identify young racquet stars to represent PNG at larger tournaments in the Pacific, Asia and Oceania Regions.

BSP supports 2018 PNG Real Estate Show

The show will be staged in PNG by Hausples on the 1st  and the 2nd of June, 2018.  The event is dedicated to exhibit the Real Estate Industry at the Sir John Guise Indoor Complex.

 

The show offers agents, developers and those related to the property industry, the chance to exhibit to a large local and international audience of buyers, renters and investors.

BSP backs PCNC squad

Isikiel will be leading the team as one of the team managers while Hape will be a part of 24 member squad who will be defending their title as champions in netball at the Queensland Corporate Games.

As a show of support, BSP presented merchandise for the team and wished them well as they prepare for their trip to Australia for the Queensland Corporate Games from 22nd April to 1st May, 2018.

Western Union launches new partnerships in PNG

Representatives from the organizations were on hand to celebrate the launch of the cash transfer service in the country on Tuesday.

Western Union Pacific Regional Director, Tasko Alcevski highlighted the impressive service range for his organization.

BSP’s Deputy General Manager for Digital Retail, Nuni Kulu, spoke about how the partnership will help increase the banks reach and about the changes to the type of service given as a result.

BSP announces promotions

CEO Robin Fleming, said this in a statement following the promotion of a PNG and Fiji national to senior roles.

Daniel Faunt from PNG has been promoted to General Manager, Offshore Branches, and Fijian, Haroon Ali, as the new Country Head of Fiji.

Faunt, who  is was formerly the Senior Manager Pacific Business Liaison working with the Non PNG Countries,  will assume formal General Management for all of BSP banking operations in Fiji, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Tonga, Samoa and the Cook Islands and reports directly to the Group CEO.

Over K500,000 stolen in BSP robbery

Eastern Highlands provincial police commander, Alex N’Drasel, said around 4 to 5 armed men entered the bank’s Priority Banking area and robbed a BSP client.

They took off with K567,000 cash.

PPC N’Drasel said between 10am and 11am, the robbers drove into the Priority Banking area and parked there.

Soon after, the accountant of Shanda Trading, including an Asian man and their driver, drove into the parking lot.

When the female accountant stepped out of the vehicle to enter the bank, the men got out with high powered guns and held them up.
