British and Irish Lions coach Warren Gatland

Hansen hits back at Gatland

Gatland was unhappy following Saturday's 30-15 loss in Auckland, concerned over the treatment of Lions scrum-half Murray against the world champions.

The Lions head coach felt Murray was unfairly targeted at Eden Park as he expressed his concerns to the match officials, and Hansen returned fire on Monday, making for a fierce clash in Wellington on Saturday.

"It's predictable comments from Gatland, isn't it? Two weeks ago we cheated in the scrums and last week it was blocking and now he's saying this," Hansen told Radio Sport.

Gatland believes Lions peaking perfectly

The clinical performance came on the back of what many expect to be Gatland's preferred test team suffocating the Maori All Blacks into submission in their 32-10 victory in Rotorua on Saturday.

Gatland's side now head into the three-test series against New Zealand that starts at Eden Park in Auckland on Saturday riding some momentum and with confidence building.

"The guys are pretty happy in the sheds and its great for this group of players," Gatland told reporters.
