Australian fighter shares experience

Lachlan took on a stiff challenge from his PNG opponent and Pacific Games prospect, Arthur Ray Lavalou in the 88kg eventually taking out the bout by way of points.

Young Lachlan said since the team arrived on Friday it’s been an amazing experience seeing everybody so friendly and welcoming including a memorable visit to the Bomana war cemetery.

Raka Suffers Defeat

The bout ended after round six with a unanimous score of 60, 53, 59, and 54 as the PNG Fighter bowed out of the ring.

Although coming off from the Blue corner and firing, the opposition was too strong for him. The difference between defeat and victory came down to international fighting experience. Tao Su has more international experience than Raka. Raka gave his utmost best in what was labeled by many as a fair fight.

This fight is Raka’s second international bout. His first was staged in the Philippines, against a local fighter. Raka had lost that fight.

Raka aims high

Raka enters the ring at the Grand Ho Tram Strip in Vung Tau, Vietnam on Saturday in a seven-fight card that has attracted nine countries.

Hosts Vietnam, China, Philippines, Russia, Mongolia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Korea and PNG will be involved in the WBO Global Prelude Boxing event.

Special kudos to the teams from Bangladesh and Papua New Guinea for making their historical appearance in Vietnam.

Raka Departs for Vietnam

His fight is scheduled for July 15th at the Grand Ho Tram Resort and Casino, Hoi Chi Min City, Vietnam.

Raka was matched up against the Chinese top Featherweight fighter, Xiao Tao Su, who will be looking to win this fight to regain his former glory post Covid-19.

The 30 Year-Old boxer recorded 2KOs in his last two fights in the 59KG weight division. Standing at 162CM, the Papua Boxing Representative is as good as his opponent statistic wise.

Ume Retains Boxing Title

The man from Kairuku, Central Province, defeated all three of his opponents. He took them out in the opening two rounds of the bout, with new fighting techniques.

Ume said he puts his new fighting techniques into practice in the national championship and it worked well for him.

The champion boxer normally goes head on head with a headbutt in the fighting. This technique exhausts him and causes bruising to his eyebrow.

Raka Positive To Host Fights

Raka said the Ocean Fights Promotions is planned to go ahead to honour late patron and fights promotor, Ben Micah and Martin Beni.

Raka who had his last WBA Asia Super featherweight fight in October last year against Philippines International Roldan Aldea “the Cobra”in the super featherweight U59 kg division.

After the passing of Oceania Fights Promotion Patron late Micah last month and Promotion Manager late Beni last year, PNG Light Featherweight Pro champion boxer, Raka is keeping his hopes high for more international fights in the coming months.

‘He’s underestimated me quite a bit’: SBW doubles down on ‘world event’ fight against Jake Paul

Paul, the YouTube sensation who has turned his hand to boxing, suggested Williams was on a “hit list” of potential opponents as he weighs up who to fight next after knocking out UFC star Tyron Woodley in December.

‘What a farce’: Australia stunned as Sonny Bill KOs Barry Hall in a flash

Williams was a hurricane from the first bell and had knocked Hall down inside the first 45 seconds of the fight.

It was a slaughter right from the start when Williams landed a heavy left hook after just 15 seconds that had Hall falling back onto the ropes.

The 45-year-old never recovered.

Suddenly it was very easy to tell Williams was nine years younger and boasted an 11kg weight advantage.

There was some confusion with the referee appearing to wave the fight off as Hall got back to his feet the second time.
