Bomb threat at court house

This is after two of the staff received messages on their phones from unknown numbers at 8:00am of a bomb threat.

According to the staff on the ground, they informed a CID officer who inspected the premises and advised the staff to vacate the building for their safety.

After one hour of waiting, the Police Dog Unit arrived on the scene to search to ascertain the threat.

 “We got our dogs to search the premises of the court house, unfortunately we found nothing suspicious,” said the Officer in charge of the Dog Unit Sergeant Dominic Nassam,

Airport Bomb Threat under investigation

NAC in a statement said the rumour stemmed from a SPAM email received this morning, copied to airline companies including NAC.

NAC for now is classifying the email as SPAM as it works with police and defence to assess the threats and take appropriate security measures.

NAC says the email has been classified as SPAM for now as investigations begin to establish the source of the email and verify the claims made in the email of bomb threats on three aircraft.

Man arrested over bomb threat near US Capitol

 

The man, identified as Floyd Ray Roseberry, 49, surrendered hours after the threat was made.

US Capitol Police had been negotiating with the driver who had parked a pick-up truck near the Library of Congress, across the street from the Capitol building and Supreme Court.

His motives remain unknown. Police are still searching the vehicle.

Congress is currently in recess, but some staff are working in the Capitol. Several office buildings were evacuated.

Waigani Court House on locked down after bomb threat

Staff and lawyers were evicted from the Court House for about two hours. 

Court officials say the threat was issued before 8am today.

An anonymous caller had called the officer of the Chief Justice notifying them of a possible bomb threat.

At 8am, all staff were evicted from the Court House and the gate closed with the guards turning away the public.

At around 9:30 personals from the PNGDF’s Explosive and Ordinance Division arrived to visibly check the area.
