Besta notch first win

Besta struck first in the 25th minute of the match with a goal from Barty Korebin.

The score was made level six minutes into the second half when Elton Banam sunk one for his side.

Besta dominated the remainder of the match and it paid off with goals to Emmanuel Simongi in the 85th and Jonathan Allan in the first minute of stoppage time.

"We came prepared to play today. But there was a lot we didn't do right. We still have a lot of work to do,” said Besta PNG United FC coach, Harrison Kamake.

​POM to host NSL triple header tomorrow

The first match of the day will kick off at 10am between Besta PNG United FC and Madang FC.

This will be followed by Vitis Yamaros FC taking on Lae City Dwellers FC at 12:30pm.

In the main game in game eight of round two, Buang FC go head to head with Huawei PS United FC. This game is scheduled for 3pm.

Relatives want truth about PMV driver’s death

The late Kissa was picked up by police last Tuesday (Dec 13) over an alleged traffic infringement at the traffic lights near the Bisini soccer fields in Port Moresby. While transporting him to the Boroko Police Station, he allegedly jumped out of the moving police van.

Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries the next afternoon (Dec 14), which resulted in PMV operators grounding their buses in protest on Thursday (Dec 15).

Corporate slow-pitch grand final this weekend

The Pool D Game is at 2.30pm with PNG Power Sparkies up against Puma Energy Green. Cardno Lions will battle Remington Groupies (1pm) in Pool C, Digicel Tower versus ANZ Besties (11.30am) in Pool B and NAC Jets will take on Remington 48ers (10am) in Pool A.

“It has been an exciting nine Saturdays of corporate slow-pitch and we have now reached the last Saturday,” said the Port Moresby Women’s Softball Association publicity officer, Sophie Malaibe.

AFL POM school grand final set for Saturday

AFL fans are in for a treat with five finals to be played in the three divisions.

At 9.20am is the U12 boys grand final between Coronation and Sevese Morea Primary School.

The U13 girls’ final kicks off straight after at 10.20am with Boroko and Bomana to lock horns. Wardstrip and St Peter’s will do battle in the U13 boys final later at 11.20am.

The last division grand final will be the U15s.

 For the girls, Ted Diro will go up against Taurama. This game starts at 12.20pm.
