Bill Cosby won't face charges in two sexual assault cases

The county's district attorney's office announced the decision on Wednesday, a week after the 78-year-old actor was arraigned in a Pennsylvania court on separate sexual misconduct charges stemming from a 2004 incident involving an ex-Temple University employee. It is the only case that has led to criminal charges for Cosby, who has been accused by more than 50 women of sexual abuse, often involving drugs and alcohol, during incidents that allegedly took place over several decades. He has denied the allegations.

Bill Cosby charged with 2004 drugging, sex assault of woman

Holding a cane, the 78-year-old comedian walked slowly and unsteadily into court on the arms of his lawyers to answer charges he drugged and sexually assaulted a woman less than half his age at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004. He had no comment as he was released on $1 million bail.

The case marks the first time Cosby has been charged with sexual misconduct despite years of lurid allegations and sets the stage for perhaps the biggest Hollywood celebrity trial of the mobile-news era.

Bill Cosby loses Honorary Degree from Fordham University

The University Board of Trustees voted unanimously to revoke the award amid ongoing accusations that Cosby drugged and sexually abused numerous women over the course of his career.

"A recipient's actions would have to be both unambiguously dishonorable and have a deep impact," the university said in a statement announcing its decision. "By his own admission, Mr. Cosby's sexual exploitation of women was premeditated and ongoing. Equally appalling is his longtime strategy of denigrating the reputations of women who accused him of such actions."
