Bail allowed

Kange allowed K5000 bail

Despite four previous bail applications made and refused in the National Court (two applications) and Supreme Court (two applications), the court was satisfied this time around that circumstances had changed since the last bail application was moved, thus bail was allowed.

Kange’s case in the District court was committed for trial on March 28 after it found there was enough for him to stand trial.

Wanigela man allowed bail

Lobo Berua from Wanigella in the National Capital District and his lawyer went before the Waigani National Court with a bail application which was granted to him at K1,000 today.

Berua was arrested by police late in Dec of 2016 and charged for the murder of Stanley Kapa on Dec 16, 2016.

Kapa was a policeman at the Koki Cop Shop. On the day the alleged "accident" shooting incident took place, a suspect was brought to the Cop Shop after he was suspected for being in possession of a home-made pistol.

Sheekiot allowed K1000 bail

He said the Court must also be mindful of this and treat people differently due to risks involved when detained.

He made these comments when he allowed K1000 bail this afternoon (Friday) for the fifth accused that was arrested and charged for his alleged involvement in the Tatana shooting on January 17, 2015.

The court used its discretion in granting bail to 33-year-old Jeffery Sheekiot of Sumusamu village, Bogia, Madang Province, after his lawyer appeared before the National Court this morning and moved a bail application.
