PNG musik awards cancelled

PNGFM Ltd, parent company of NAU FM, YUMI FM and LEGEND FM, made the announcement on Monday 2nd November.

However, in a significant first, this year’s YUMI FM PNG MUSIK AWARDS will be held in a radio broadcast event.

In its 16th year, this is the only event that recognises the efforts of artists in the country.

Despite the cancellation of the usual event, an on-air radio show will be held on 93 YUMI FM with winners’ announcements to be made on the night.

The eight categories are:

BSP celebrates loyalty, commitment

For all the staff that commemorated their long service, Bank South Pacific (BSP) was and has been the only employer for them since day one; and they had nothing but praise for their employer.

On Saturday 26th January, BSP hosted a special awards night in recognition of 26 of its long service staff, six of which celebrated their 40 years of service while 20 marked 25 years of service.

The Awards, now in its 5th consecutive year, is a much anticipated gala event in the Fiji Business event calendar.

The awards honour Fiji’s outstanding businesswomen who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in their business or profession and in their service to the community.

This is a relief as the WIB committee completes its final wrap up for the awards night on May 20 at the Grand Pacific Hotel,” said Dr Nur Bano Ali, President of Fiji Women in Business. “We are grateful to Samsung for their interest in the awards as we continue to grow the event.”

Engineers receive maintenance licences

Young Browen Kasito from Sirumpa village in Henganofi, Eastern Highlands received her electrical and instrument  licenses, specializing in Fokker 70 and F100 aircraft, while Air Niugini Executive Manager, Maintenance Control Benedict Oraka received his license in power plant and aeroplane, specializing in Boeing 767, B737, Fokker 100/F70 and the Dash 8-100/200/300 aircraft.
